Vintage Indian Pen- Pilot -Eye dropper filled.

Vintage Indian Pen- Pilot -Eye dropper filled.

Updated 8th dec 2013.
There is no way to find out the model number and exact year of this pen, though I have sighted some postings in FPN where similar pens are mentioned. The pen required nib adjustment and tuning, that took some time and is done well now. This fine point nib is writing very smooth now. The nib is marked " HARDGILT, PILOT , (2) '' - wish I knew what that means!. This is a beautifully constructed slightly large pen, but fitted with an excessively short section. This makes writing somewhat awkward for my hand, though I managed by holding the pen slightly higher up on the barrel. However that is tiring for longtime writing. The thin cap band was loose and in trying to fit that in place I managed to smear a bit extra glue on the cap- not going away with buffing. The Gold plating of the trim hardware is still going strong after 55+ years, and that shows the build quality of those days pens. A fine full bodied pen from yester years! Below is a handwriting sample:

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape at Rs. 2500/-. From that set, this is an Indain Pilot, screw cap and eyedropper filled type. Burgandy colour plastic body with gold trim, this is a well constructed standard sized pen

Vintage Indian Pen- Sharp

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. This pen is from that set. This is a brand called Sharp. The pen's body made from beautiful chequered pattern on deep greenish blue celluloid. The cap band is missing, taking away a part of the beauty! The Clip needs re-plating and a cap band need to be fitted for restoration. The nib is of Sulekha, retro fitted. Wish some information about this band and model were available.  A cute 45+ year old pen, very well preserved.

Vintage Indian Pen- Sulekha- Large

I have received 30 vintage Indian fountain pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Panjape for Rs 2500/-. This slightly oversized Sulekha pen is from this set. This is an eye dropper filled pen made from good quality plastic. The golden colour clip and cap bands are in good order. The pen is very well preserved for its 45+ years of age.

Indian Vintage Pen- Panther 66

I received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. This pen is fro that set, brand name Panther, model 66. This is a well preserved pen with a push button type filler. The pen came without a nib and the filler sac. I used a wing sung sack and an Artex nib and got the pen workinh. The plastic is well preserved, only the clip and cap=bad require re-plating for full restoration. This brand name  is not known to me, but I seem to start liking this design very much. Wish more information was available.

Indian Vintage pen- Zeeper

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune Based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. One below from that set is a brand called Zeeper, a fine design well preserved eyedropper pen. The stainless steel cladding on the plastic cap could be opened, and I have given a good hand polish up to grit 12000. Now looking good, The clip require re-plating for a full restoration, plastic parts are in good condition. Pen is retro-fitted with an "Ambitious" nib, wonder what was the original nib. Wish more information about this brand was available!

Indian Vintage pen- Doric

I received 30 vintage pens today  from Pune based collector  Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. There were two of this relatively less known brand Doric pens. Unable to find the model number anywhere on the body of the pens. Both pens are identical, one has a steel nib fitted. Very well preserved eyedropper pens. Wish more information about this brand was available. Clip requires re-plating, the grey plastic body shows no sign of ageing. At 45+ years these are well preserved.

Indian Vintage Pen-Sulekha-Lever Filled.

I received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs. 2500/-. This pen from that set is brand Sulekha, a beautiful design lever filled pen. The Original sac is not easily available, I will try to use one from WingSung. The cap band and the clip needs a light cleaning. Otherwise an excellent preserved old pen , at least 45+ years old. I love the classic shape of this pen.

Vintage Indian Pen- Adler

I received 30 vintage pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/- . This fine  design pen brand Adler has a over-the head design clip fitted on dark grey marbled celluloid cap with body colour light grey ap finial. I did finally open and clean the clip.
The missing cap band has taken away a share of the beauty! A fine design pen, and at 45 years plus age this is very well preserved, really like the shape of this pen.

Vintage Indain Pen- Rolex Celluloid Eye Dropper..

Today I received 30 vintage Indian pens from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. This gorgeous eyedropper pen from that set has a brand-name Rolex, which is relatively unknown to me, perhaps marketed in Maharastra side in those days 45 years back. The celluloid still maintains a nice sheen, the translucent end finial adds a fine attitude. The Clip and clip finial are composite, over-the-top design, the cap band is missing, reducing the beauty a bit. The clip needs a re-plating and a cap band needs to be fitted. The body of the pen needs a round of polish. Overall , this 45+ year pen is in a very good state of preservation.

Vintage Indian Pen- Wilson Celluloid Eyedropper

Today I received 30 vintage Indian pens from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape. This one from that set is a Wilson eyedropper modeled after early Parker Vaccumatis. The herringbone pattern on the celluloid is beautiful, similar to the previous one, but this one is greenish while the previous one was grey in colour. This pen has a translucent end finial. I did not attempt to clean the clip and the cap band. Later the clip and cap band would require re-plating and the body needs to buffed with soft cloth. At 45+ years the pen looks reasonably well preserved. The original Wilson nib has been replaced by the seller with a Sulekha nib.

Vintage Indian Pen- Wilson Celluloid Eyedropper

Today I received 30 vintage Indian pens from Pune Based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. This celluloid Vintage Wilson from that set is modeled after older Parker Vaccumatic models, but is of eyedropper filled type. I did a primary hand polish of the body with Grit 12000 and Waxpol and cleaned the clip and the cap-band with brasso. Later, these metal parts would need re-plating and the celluloid would need a round of soft cloth buffing. I like the herringbone pattern on the body. At about 45+ years, this is a reasonably well preserved pen. The seller has replaced the nib with an "Ambitious" nib, wonder if Wilson nibs are available any more.

Vintage Indian Pen- Wilson Celluloid Eyedropper.

Vintage Indian Pen- Wilson Celluloid Eyedropper.
Updated on 8th Dec 2013.
This simple yet elegant all celluloid pen is slightly undersized and retains the original Wilson nib. Filling system is simple eyedropper filling and I found the section threads are bit too tight, a small smear of Vaseline helped. Minor tuning and tines adjustment was all that was needed to ensure good flow and smoothness. Being very light this pen is a fast and comfortable writer. There is a benign beauty about this pen, the 55+ year old marbled tone celluloid still retains much of its lusture. The end finials are essentially black celluloid plugs. The clip has been somewhat cleaned up with fine buffing and brasso and looks a little better now. Wish I could remove and gold plate the clip. Writing test was quite successful and guess I would leave it at this. A writing sample is attached below.

Today I received 30 vintage Indian pens from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. This celluloid pen of Wilson make is eyedropper filled type. At over 45 years old this is a very well preserved pen. If you magnify the photo you can see the Wilson logo at the bend of the clip. The clip requires re-plating and the body requires a good dose of soft cloth buffing, as of now I could only give a light hand-polish with waxpol and grit 12000. Job at hand.

Vintage Chelpark pen- Moti?

Today I received 30 Indian vintage pens from a Pune based Collector , Dr Madhav Paranjape, for Rs 2500/-.
This is a Chelpark pen, I am not sure, most likely this piston filler pen is Chelpark MOTI, a very famous pen of our Childhood days. At about 45+ years , this pen appears very well preserved.

Vintage Ebonite Pen

Large Vintage Indain Ebonite Pen :  updated 8th Dec 2013.

This pen had been received in excellent working condition and I wanted to write about it. Today I finally took a writing test, it is an excellent feeling to write with this pen. However, I must admit, it took a while for me to get used to the relatively wider section pen and take full control. This is an excellent writer and an excellent looker.
however , once again I spent quite sometime to figure out the make and model of this pen by searching for a similar one in FPN. I found the nearest match in a  Wilson pen of those days, in which there is the Wilson logo stamped on the clip and the nib- while this one has none. I have read that many pen makers were making these parker duofold inspired ebonite pens those days including famous brands like Mhatre, Sapre, Gama etc. However there seems to be no way ofestablishing the brand identity of this particular pen. So, a handsome no-brand Indian ebonite pen , from days 55 or so years back. below pasted a writing sample using this pen.
