Three more pens made recently.

I had been trying out a few less conventional design pens. These came out better than expected.

29 January 2018.
This is an over sized pen with rounded end finials, the shape of end finials was inspired by the cap worn by the Thompson pairs of Tintin comics. If this pen is made in production I would name it Thomson.
Black and speckled yellow acrylic material, Jowo 6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter. There is provision for fitting a clip, but commercially available clips are short for this long pen. Chosen a slip on type snake roll stopper. The pen is made cap posting capable, however it may not easily handle with cap posted

Hope you like the less conventional design. Welcome comments and criticism.

31 January 2018

This design is a new tryout and I feel quite happy the way the pens turned out.. Clip-less model with clip fitment provision kept in the dark pen, slip on snake type roll stopper.
The pen is relatively simple to machine, 17 mm straight cap with 14.8 mm straight barrel with  4 degree end taper. The section is 19 mm with concave grip, quite ok to hold. Short and stubby looking but overall length is more than that of a Parker Sonnet.
Jowo 6 nib unit and Jinhao converter fitted.

The acrylic material very high quality and it machines like ebonite, well , almost. Regret the photo quality, actually the pens look better.
Hope you like the design. Appreciate comments and criticism.

Pens made after 14 Jan till today.

Dear viewers, sorry for delayed update. Following pens were made during this period.

Date 15 January 2018

Made one clip-less pen last night, with body colour bead roll stopper.
The pen is very well postable. The section is made extra long for writing comfort. There are small flaws in the pen particularly in the glue area of the roll stopper and a small crack in the section. Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticism. Last photo for size comparison.

 Date 21 January 2018
Made this pen last night. Not yet polished. I like to call it bumblebee.

 Date 22 January 2018

After polished. Size comparison.

 Date 27 January 2018
The two pens made last night, size comparison with a Twsbi 580 diamond pen. Jowo 6 nib units and modified Jinhao converters. Material alumilite acrylic , bought from Amazon.
Hope you like the designs. Welcome comments and criticism.

Sunday 14 January 2018

As on 14th Jan 2018

Dear friends, I have successfully updated about the pens I made. Enjoy your viewing and please let us have your comments. Will update again as I make more pens.

With my attention stuck to pen making and its challenges of various kinds, focus has somewhat shifted away from purchased pens. I have bought some 40 vintage pens from pens-point during this vacation. When I am free, I would make photo reports of those. Delay is due to the fact that none of these  have been tested as I was busy with pen making.

14th Jan 2018- clipless pen in Granite acrylic material

14 Jan 2018

Made this clip-less pen last night. The granite acrylic material is very hard. Jowo 6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter. This pen is a long pen ,barrel ,14 mm max and cap 16 mm maxm. The section is made extra long for writing comfort., as a result the cap too needed more length. The pen is shown together with another pen made earlier using same material
Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticism.

12th Jan 2018- Regular size pen in deep pink ebonite and white acrylic ends

12 Jan 2018

This afternoon I completed this pen in deep pink ebonite with white pmma end pieces. The section is a new type, attempted as a new try. Checked, the grip is satisfactory. Jowo 6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter. The last photo is for size comparison with a WingSung 233. The pen is made cap-posting friendly.
The colour of the ebonite is perhaps not correctly shown in the photos, in real it is a deep pink with a mix of mustard colour.
Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticism.

12th Jan 2018- Duofold inspired long pen in Tan and black ebonite material.

12 Jan 2018

This pen made in premium ebonite looks rather subdued in colour, tan and black is not exact ly pleasing, I would like the tan more in the orange side. Otherwise , it is a long pen ,92mm barrel, 14.5 mm barrel diameter and 16.6 mm cap diameter. Jowo6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter. Retro looks!
Welcome your comments and criticism on the pen.

11th Jan 2018 - pen in woodshed blank poly resin

11 Jan 2018

This pen took me more time than usual due to a breakage at the barrel threads. Unlike my normal 13 mm OD and 10 mm ID for the barrel ( meaning 1.5 mm wall thickness at the plain part and less by 0.8 at the threads), I had tried to make 10 mm ID and 12 mm OD for the barrel to make a slim pen ( means less than 0.8 mm at the thread part); the poly resin material did not sustain.
So finally incorporating a tan ebonite coupler saved the situation. Hope the colour is not too mismatch!.
Jowo 6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter.
The barrel end is stepped down to fit the cap, idea similar to Parker 25, sans the sharp change of diameter.
Compared size with a Parker Sonnet.
My stock of Woodshed poly resin blanks have come to an end, only one light shade remaining now. These blanks has been a pleasure to work with, I would buy some of this material again.
This blank has the colour of fire from a furnace, does appeal much to me somehow.
I hope you like the design, welcome comments and criticism.

7th Jan 2017- Blue pen in acrylic

7th Jan 2018

This blue pen is made from a single 5.5 inch acrylic blank and clear acrylic rod to make up for the short fall ( two blanks are needed for a kit less pen). The internal surface of the ink window can use a little more polish. Jowo 6 nib unit and Schmidt k5 converter used. Ink filled and tried out the pen, satisfactory. Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticism.

Thrre pens made on 4th Jan 2018

4th Jan 2018

Completed these three pens this evening. The smaller one took some extra caution. The pink one is made from other blank leftovers. The orange one is very close to another pen shown recently, with a different clip. I am happy the way the pens turned out . Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticisms.
