Indian Pen - Pierre Cardin Kriss

Pierre Cardin Kriss -
Pierre Cardin brand in India is marketed by Flair pen company as their top end pens. These two pens namely the Kriss and Masterpiece, both share the same large section and large medium point iridium tipped German nibs and a relatively not so refined desi slide piston converter. Kriss comes with conical flat ended finials while the other one comes with rounded end finials. Writing ergonomics and balance and stance are same for both pens,
The body is constructed of lacquer coated metal tubing, most likely aluminum, judging by the weight or very thin brass. The pen is not heavy compared to its large dimensions. The lacquer coating is provided with fine sparkle metal dust , called satin nickel finish by the maker. Looks good nevertheless. The pen comes in gold colour trim and clip and dual tone 18 KGP nib. Overall this is quite an ornate looking pen. Posting the cap while writing does not affect the balance of the pen, rather somewhat improves the same. This is a  choice pen for slow and comfortable writing.
Sample handwriting and some photos below.

Overall this is quite an elegant yet simple looking pen, the external looks a very much inspired by that of Montblanc Meisterstuc 146 [ the section design is different]. Posting the cap while writing does not affect the balance of the pen, rather somewhat improves the same. This is a  choice pen for slow and comfortable writing.

HERO 343- the Rs 40/- student pen!

SZ-LEQI Paris- Golden colour pens.

As of now I could not find out much about this " SZ-LEQI Paris" Brand, except the  following from a site called << Passion4pens.com >>. Here is what I could find :

Established May 5, 1994, Shenzhen Leqi Stationary & Gifts Company, aka SZ.LEQI is one of the first to import and distribute various now famous brands of writing instruments in the China market. Starting in 2000, the SZ Leqi® Paris global brand was developed in Paris, France directly. 2004 saw the "NAKI" brand being launched including medium-to-high class writing instruments. NAKI products bear an impressive, well known musical note that represents NAKI's product stategy.....delicacy and uniqueness. You will appreciate the NAKI premium products reflecting classic grace and delicacy in each pen. Enjoy!!

Vintage Indian pen- SAPRE- extra long ebonite eyedropper pen.

This is the last pen from Dr Paranjape's collection. At 17 cm , this is a very long pen, however that does not affect the writing ergonomics, the pen writes well. The ebonite is very beautiful natural wood colour, abit difficult to photograph accurately. Apparently Sapre is a Puna based pen company and this pen is about 45+ years old model. The pen is very well preserved. We will try to get more information on the brand I due course.

Vintage Indian Pen- Wilson- dark walnut coulor Ebonite pen.

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for
Rs. 2500/- for the set. We have this beautiful Walnut colour ebonite pen from Wilson in this set. This 45+ year old pen is in excellent condition and fitted with a Doric nib. This ebonite has wlnut wood grain and bit deep in colour. Very difficult to do justice to the colour with ordinary camera setup, the pen looks much better than the photo as one can change the angle against light and see various depths of colour. Functionally a small ergonomic all ebonite pen. Unable to find the model number.

Indian Vintage pen- Doric- Eyedropper Filled.

I have received 30 vintage Indian Pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape at Rs 2500/- for the set. There are two of these Doric pens in this set, one dark blue as shown another deep maroon in colour. Both these 45+ year old pens are reasonably well preserved. These are eyedropper filled pens, the model number of these pens are not available from the body. These are comfortable light weight pens, of slightly smaller than regular size and better suited for relatively smaller hands. These comfortable pens come in gold colour trim and gold plated nibs. Unfortunately there is no brand information available now, understand that these were marketed mainly in western India / Maharshtra area only.

Indian Ventage pen- Doric , small

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape at Rs 2500/-. In this set, we have this well preserved small eyedropper pen. The model number is not printed on the body. This one is a very comfortable light pen with fine curves, better suited for smaller hands. The pen comes in golden trim and gold plated nib. Understand this pen is 45+ years old, and for the age this is very well preserved.

Vintage Indian Pen- Maatre Writer- Lever filled.

MHATRE WRITER PEN :

Updated 8th Dec 2013 :

M/s Mhatre Pens and Plastics of Mumbai  had owned the British Band SWAN's India unit and this famous pen Mhatre Writer used to be sold in the 1950~1960's era.So easily this is a 55+years old pen. The pen is side lever filled type. This filling mechanism needed repair. An ink sac was cannibalized from a WingSing 612 and fitted after lubricating the squeezer mechanism. Tested with water and later with ink, found to hold about 12 drops and no leak- that is good enough!. Writing with this pen turned out to be quite pleasant. The Gold plated nib is semi flex medium point and  maintained good smoothness with a slight feedback. The comfort and balance of the pen was noted to be outstanding- something I did not expect from such a simple looking pen. Definitetly this used to be a pen of choice for many in those days. Hope I can gather some information on this. Below is a handwriting sample using this pen.

I have received 30 vintage Indian pens today from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Parajape for    Rs. 2500/- . This pen , a Maatre Writer lever filled pen is from that set. The pen is found in a well preserved condition, except for the ink sac which fell off as dry flake after operating the lever mechanism. Have borrowed an used sac from a WingSung and fixed the filling system and tested with water. Found holding about 12 drops, guess that should be OK! I have read about this pen in FPN, must have been quite a cult pen at some point of time- this pen is at least 45+ years old and very well preserved.

Indian Vintage Pen- Plato 55

I have received 30 vintage Indian Pens from Pune based collector Dr. Madhav Paranjape for Rs 2500/-. In that same set, this is a Plato 55 eye dropper pen. This 45+ year old pen is very well preserved-only a light polish with waxpol was all I did to make the pen look better.
